Now you know this building.
So I will not prattle on about it.
Here are the historical facts.
This is the entry gate.
We attempted to engage these 2 Muslim men in a conversation regarding how much we enjoyed seeing a building with no "gods" on it... What a contrast to the rest of the city. But they were only interested in a 1 way discussion... So we gave up.
At the end of a long long hot hot day we headed home...
...to our hotel...
Well, not exactly our hotel. This is the Oberoi Hotel next door to our hotel.
We ordered a beer and a cocktail which costed almost as much as our hotel for the night...
But they were worth it...
The Indian waiters I their resplendent outfits were masters of engaging the guests in conversation. The cheapest room in this hotel in this, the off-season is worth, wait for it, $750 per night.
Ok, actually this is our hotel... Interestingly, the waiters actually live in this hotel. They even gave us a complimentary G&T...
