INDIA 10. TRAIN FROM AGRA TO JAIPUR.

This was our second of 3 prebooked train journeys in India. A four and a half hour trip from Agra in the state of Utta Pradesh to the desert city of Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan.

Now the first journey turned out not too bad. Overnight 13 hour air conditioned carriage on a double bunk behind a curtain... Sleep was not great but our luggage was not stolen and that was the greatest fear. And it only cost $20 each.

So, to our second journey. A four and a half hour rail trip for just $3.30 each. We have payed more for short Auto Rickshaw rides so the price is inexplicably low.

Our regular driver and his little friend who we payed to stop trying to sell us souvenirs.

Agra station and guess what, the train is late.

 

And on to the train, only to discover... It's very full, there is no AC which means a lot, given that it's still 43 degrees. There is no glass in the windows in our carriage.

We were quite the novelty for the Indians as they had probably not seen tourists in such a car before.

And there is a large Indian family occupying our bunk. Needless to say, Alexandra was less than enthusiastic about our plight... But what to do? Despite booking 2 months in advance there was simply no better option available...

So we must take the top bunk and soak up the experience.

After a very memorable journey we arrived in Jaipur.
