INDIA 3. BACK STREETS OF VARANASI

Monday April 28, 2014 continued

Unlike mad dogs and Englishman, we took a nap during the hotest part of the day and then ventured out in the afternoon. Not that the air conditioning worked due to the regular power outage.

Whilst the Ganges didn't seem to smell, we cannot say the same for the back lanes of Varanasi.

Bustling with life.

And all manor of goods, and some not so good. We are searching for a cobbler.

The sandals that Alexandra had made in Vietnam were not up to the rigors of rocky dusty Kathmandu roads so for 40 Indian rupees (80 cents) we struck a deal to have them repaired.

Money well spent.

The elegant chap.

And then to find our way back to the hotel through the maze.

Just in time to see a British empire vestige, a spot of cricket on the ghat.
Varanasi continues.
