USA 13. THE BRONX BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT

Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11 th, september 2014

Our USA adventure has 4 chapters. 1. Brooklyn Bethel work week. 2. Five days in Patterson for Gilead. 3. Three days in Wisconsin and 4. Four days in Chicago. The first chapter of our US adventure came to an end on Wednesday evening when our friends drove us to The Bronx.

Accross the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan and then on to Mount Vernon.

It's The Bronx, but not as we know it. Actually its Mount Vernon. Considered a city within New York City inner ring suburb located just north of The Bronx. The City is 4.4 square miles and is home to approximately 67,000+ residents, making it the 8th largest city in New York State; the 2nd most densely populated city in New York State; and 11th most densely populated city in the United States.

As you can see its a very nice neighborhood in a quiet little street. Tomorrow we hire a car and drive to Patterson so being here means that we only have a short drive to get out of the city for which we are very grateful...

Thank you Rachel and Dave for arranging this perfect overnight stay, driving us up here and introducing us to your relatives.

Our hosts actually gave up their beautiful bedroom and slept on the sofa so that we could get a good nights sleep.

This is our hosts, Courtney and Hanna. So sorry we didn't have more time to get to know them before we hit the road. Thanx guys.

The moment of truth is always when we jump into a rental car and drive off on the right side. It takes a little extra concentration since we normally drive on the "wrong" or left side. Especially when you don't know where you are going. Fortunately the quiet streets of Mount Vernon provide the perfect drivers reorientation time.

A typical Mount Vernon house.

And another. But this day we were headded to a very untypical American house. The Glass House...
