NEPAL 3. KATHMANDU GUIDED TOUR

Friday April 11 2014

Patan

Jit is a local brother who took us for a Kathmandu tour in his taxi.

He took us past his KH.

... where we met Andrea, a Canadian sister who is here for a few months and loving the field service.

This lady seems pretty happy too but it's hard to say why with that heavy load.

Looking down into dusty Kathmandu valley.

The monkey temple.

Nepalese are largely Hindu but there is also a Buddhist population. Hindus and Buddhist worshipers seem to have no problem with mixing and matching religions. Buddha was actually born in Nepal.

This is happy little monkey.
And this is a grumpy monkey.
One mans trash is another monkeys treasure.

Throwing rice to feed the birds or for some religious rite... Who knows?

This lady was doing the dishes with her 10 year old rooster at her side. Many peoples humble homes are small and do not have running water inside. So many of the daily chores take place on the street.

Waiting to take someone for a ride.
Jit very kindly took us to his family home where his wife (a pioneer) had prepared a Nepali curry lunch for us.

Jit with his family and friends.

"Me-toe" (our spelling) is Nepali for delicious which it certainly was.
Back on the tour...
Alexandra asked this's man for a photo.

Durbar Square

Two old gentlemen watching the world go by.
A friendly face.

Relics from British empire.
Definitely learning.
Bustling lanes.

Another temple area.
Last stop, out of town to a botanical garden.
This young lady is the self appointed gate keeper.
Back to the garden and away from the madding crowd
Rather a big day but very memorable...
