1. NEW YORK, NEW YORK

WELL WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THOSE PROMISED BLOGS? You know it takes around a week to recuperate from a 24 hour journey... Then there's a little thing about a rather intense week of training for me and slaving in a hot laundry for Alexandra. And a social life... Well, whatever, but there has not been a moment to sit still since we arrived.

Anyway here is a few photos from our first weekend in the big apple.

The view from our room on the 18th floor of 90 Sands street. Looking east. The Triple glazed windows come in handy for that relentless traffic and train noise. That's the on ramp for the Manhatten bridge in the foreground. Behind us on the other side of the building is the on ramp for the Brooklyn bridge.

WHAT JET-LAG?; We are in New York so lets get going!!!

First stop, The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a JW Bible tour entitled INTEGRITY.

Brothers and sisters from all over the US

Out tour guide shows us typical first century room that the art department referenced for a scene of the apostle Paul under house arrest.

Wait a minute, that's not a roman room... Oh no, it's the Living room from the Little House, Wayzata, Minnesota, 1912–14, Frank Lloyd Wright...

And our old friend, the Guggenheim

And Birdland for the BBB, Birdland Big Band

Our old friends, Mitchie and Brent

Alexandra is a bit disappointed that there is no snow. Truth is though, it's not too bad. Temperature around 3 to 8 degrees.

The Brooklyn bridge

Down town Manhatten

Saint Paul's Chappel, the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan.

And guess what...

The Divine Name

Freedom Tower or One World Trade Center, due for completion in 2013.

“Come on! Let us build ourselves a city and also a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a celebrated name for ourselves, for fear we may be scattered over all the surface of the earth.”

The Woolworth Building, completed in 1913, one of the oldest skyscrapers in the United States.

Home sweet home, 90 sand

Lower Manhatten East Side congregation

We did want to go out in the ministry but "they just made us come" to lunch

And guess who we ran into, and agreed to being on our blog...

And Zack...

Well, we see if we can blog again soon

Love from lloydnalex

  1. I have been WAITING to receive the update - AND I WASNT DISAPPOINTED! You guys visit places that I would visit and take photos that I would take and therefore, photos that I love! Questions - 1. Who is Zack? 2. What do you think of the ceiling the the Kingdom Hall you visited? (the random things I pick up when I look at photos) 3. Are u going to see a show? 4. What was exhibiting at Guggenheim? 5. When you were visiting the Met, was the guy next to you someone who you informally witnessed to? lol!!!!
Now, I know that you will be busy in your travels, so you have permission to answer when you get back to Australia. But, if I didnt ask now, I would have forgotted!!!
Please say Gday to Grant, Wanda and Hannah for us. And tell them "à bientôt"
