20. LIVING WITH SNOW, THE CANADIAN WAY

Thursday January 3, 2013

Presently, Sydney is experiencing a heat wave of temperatures around the 40 degrees centigrade (that's 104 farenheight for our no-metric friends). But here we are in Brome Quebec smothered in snow.

"Where is Brome Hannah?"

For those who don't know, there's Canada above USA, and that green spot is Quebec. Brome is right down the bottom of Quebec just to the right of Montreal near the USA border.
According to the 2011 census Brome's population was 271. Since then Grant and Wanda, moved in and and Hannah was born so i guess that make the population 274.
"Must we go out today Alexandra?"
"But its snowing"
"No mum, not the outside clothing..."
"No"
"Oooooo no".

"Don't even try to talk to me!!!"
A little French cuisine helps with the snow
The lights on the mountain in the background are for night skiing
Restaurant
Turkey pie
Salmon on a stick
Wanda's parents, Adrian and Judy
Home at last
Though the snow clad landscape is a thing of beauty for us to enjoy, Hannah is not so enamored. And she is not alone. The endless layering up and then stripping off again each time one comes and goes somewhere is time consuming and tedious to say the least. We now understand why people have "mud rooms". But that is nothing compared to the vast amount of resources required to clear the paths, rooves, cars, and roads. But that's just what you do here. It's simply a normal part of life for 4 months in the year so people have learned to live with it the Canadian way. Tomorrow we will play with the snow...
Good night
