Now it probably looks like we are "full time tourists", not "full time servants". Well, we must admit, it has been a pretty amazing 12 months and we have seen a lot of interesting sights and blogged about them but you have to believe us, there is a lot of time spent working in between the touristing that we just don't blog about... Ok, don't believe us...
So here we go again, this time we are starting in Yokohama Bay with Seiji and Kyoko.
The map
First stop, the highly sculptural Yokohama International Port Terminal or Ōsanbashi Pier designed by Foreign Office Architects. The car park ceiling is reminiscent of Japanese origami, but made of steel, rather than paper.
Even the glazing is folded.
More folded steel ceiling.
Brazilian timber ramp.
Inside the terminal.
The roof is a large open plaza.
The wedding
The timber deck
The tourists.
Yokohama Local Meterological Observatory. A modern exposed concrete building adjacent and geometrically reflecting to it's predecessor...
An Art Déco-style building from 1927.
Yokohama Chinatown is the perfect place to break for lunch.
And what a lunch
Yokohama Chinatown makes Yokohama Japanese city look almost tranquil.
The Kami-noge train Station (Tokyo) designed by the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando, spans the public road.
Next stop. . . Ando street, a series of Ando buildings on every corner.
And to finish the day, freshly made udon noodles.
But that is not all that we did on this day... See our next blog...
